Personal Training

My approach as a personal trainer is to tailor the fitness workouts to suit your lifestyle; no two people are the same so you need a personal training workout to suit you and your situation.

I am based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire where I have a home studio which contains all my exercise equipment, my main role though is working in the surrounding areas, including Battersea park in London, bringing the gym to you. When I am mobile I come to you, or anywhere accessible to you. You do not need to own any specialist exercise equipment as I bring everything that will help you quickly achieve your goals, giving you a lean, more toned body shape.

As your personal trainer my ultimate aim is to train your mind and body, by teaching you the fundamentals of fitness, working together, we will establish a fitness routine that you can stick to in order to attain the physique and lifestyle you desire.

I offer a free consultation to anyone who may be looking to try personal training. During this consultation we meet each other to discuss your training wants and needs. This session won’t involve any exercises; it’s all about you as an individual and what I can offer you as your personal trainer. Once you have had a consultation you are under no obligation to begin personal training with me.

After your consultation we can then arrange a time to begin our first personal training session together. During this time I will carry out a number of health and fitness tests so I can gauge your current health and fitness levels. As you progress over time these tests will be repeated to see how your results have changed for the better, all programmes can then be adapted from these results. I carry out height and weight measurements to work out your body mass index (BMI). Areas of your body you can be measured using a tape measure, including arms, legs, waist and hips. Your body fat percentage is also measured using skin fold callipers. Lung capacity, blood pressure and heart training zones are also tested as well as aerobic, strength and flexibility tests using various equipment.

You will receive a copy of all recorded test results for you personal records. All tests are optional and are not essential to your exercise plan, I carry out these tests so we can review your data and see if the training we are doing is correct and working for you.

An insight in to your current diet is also important so will ask you to keep a food diary for 2-3 days, I can then look, adapt and change the way you eat, what you eat and when you eat. This is essential as exercise and diet should come together in one package.

Unlimited email advice using youtube clips are also always on offer from me so we can keep in touch between sessions and remind you of what exercises were covered.

Equipment used:

  • Heart rate monitors – worn at all times so you and I know you’re training levels. Heart rate zones specific to you are important so you are working as efficiently as you can.
  • Fit balls – blow up ball used for seated or lying on, used to help balance and work your core.
  • Bosu Balls – half the size of a fit ball with a flat base, used for seated or standing exercises working your balance and core.
  • Boxing gloves – you use the gloves, I hold the pads, great for cardio and arm strength, can also work the abs when punching and crunching.
  • Dumbbells – hand held and adjustable weight used to strengthen particular areas on your body.
  • Kettle bells – similar to dumbbells but used in a swinging motion to really work the whole body.
  • Medicine balls – rubber weighted balls to help you work the body without using the dumbbells / kettle bells. Great for floor work.
  • Resistance bands – stretch bands that you pull and target specific muscles but you are in control of the stretch.
  • Agility ladders / hurdles – used for speed, agility & quickness. Set out on the floor you run, jump & twist through the obstacles.
  • Foam rollers – used as a stretching tool, like a massage you roll the foam tube up and down the muscles applying pressure.
  • Mats – so you are comfortable whilst performing floor exercises.
  • Ankle / wrist weights – adding weights to your body make the workout that bit harder helping your burn more fat.

New for 2012:

  • Weight vests – used like a waistcoat you add more weight to your body making you work that bit harder.

Why do you need to queue for the treadmill and splash out on expensive gym membership fees?  When you can exercise in the luxury of your own home or local park, hassle free. See how an individual programme designed for you will get faster results, and allows for a more enjoyable experience.
